I am here where Ernest Hemingway served as a volunteer medic/ambulance man on the Italian front, WW1. A hundred years later they still celebrate Hemingway here, an annual prize for literature is awarded in his name. On the beautiful hills and mountains that arc 180 degrees a million or so fatalities tragically occurred ... senseless, a madness ... the trenches were so close that the Austro Hungarians would learn the Italian songs and sing back ...

A wonderful tribute to the Christmas miracle! "Even bitter enemies can become friends when we reject violence and see people as they truly are—as individuals. (Especially on Christmas, a holiday that celebrates the birth not of a conqueror, but of a lamb.)"
