This is very good and you make a point that seems to escape any number of highly intelligent people. With science you may identify a problem, you may or may not identify the solution. You have pneumonia, a drug regimen ( in the old days it was penicillin) IS the correct response. You establish climate change, banning beef or listening to Greta Thunberg’s hysterical rantings is the solution? No that’s just an approach and probably not a very effective one. However it makes proponents feel good about themselves because they are doing something and doing something to promote the good is very good indeed.Incidentally it also gives the virtuous power. When it comes to complex phenomena, saying follow the science can rapidly descend into the absurd because if we’re honest about it , we may not have an answer. There may not even be one.But mediocrities like Biden who crave control love the science because it’s seen as a tool for control. In reality they could care less about actual science.Isn’t it funny how in our society, science so often becomes a form of secular mysticism?
Everything has a light and dark aspect to it, and we can all agree that science has vastly improved our lives in more ways than we can imagine. As someone who is a naturally curious person, I'm amazed at just how far we've come not only as a society, but in our overall knowledge of the universe thanks to science.
The issue, however, is that there will always be people out there who realize they can use science for their own personal gain at the expense of the masses. And they use seemingly benign terms like "follow the science" so many times that it can condition the masses to simply repeat the phrase to those who question that same science that was being propagated.
"Following the science" never stopped the pandemic nor did it put a dent into "stopping the spread" or "flattening the curve." Instead, it increased domestic violence, shut down businesses, destroyed the way of life so many people worked hard to achieve, choked the supply chain, and sent prices skyrocketing. We also now know that the vaccines were nothing more than gene therapy.
That said, when someone, especially bureaucrats elected and unelected say to "follow the science," it's definitely important to challenge it with opposing science that was also out there during this same time period. Science that also wouldn't have sought to control the masses and, ultimately, destroy the way many of them lived.
