Also saw no mention of cross reactivity with vaccine components as a potential cause. Am 72, lived in 4 different states growing up and canโ€™t recall a single child with a food allergy. Even when my children were born in the early 80s, it was rare. My children were vaccinated but they may have been slightly behind schedule and I began feeding them early at around 3 months when they became interested in what I was eating. They never had formula or baby food. And the amounts were tiny, more like tastes. At any rate, there were fewer vaccines and none given at birth. Could timing and order have an influence? If you encounter the substance orally before being injected with something that might have cross reactivity, are you less likely to develop an allergy?

I wonder if the same thing applies to soft cheeses like feta which the also tell pregnant women not to eat. Maybe that's bacterial instead? Never really thought about it.
