I’d read quote from this review but never the whole thing. It’s really striking how naive Orwell was about economics. He seems to accept the notion that capitalism inevitably becomes monopolistic and that socialism creates stability. It seems not to have occurred to him that even if it does it may be the stability of stagnation.

Agreed. So brilliant in some ways, hopelessly naive in other ways.
