I read "The Uses of Enchantment" by Bruno Bettelheim. Because of this book I started reading fairy tales to my kid, and he and my husband read Tolkien and story books like "Where the Wild

Things Are" together. He - our kid-loves to read - fantasy and sci-fi, like Sheckley, Asimov,, and also comic books like Archie & Spiderman which we have stacks of, which I love. It's not frying his brain at all and he's doing just fine.

I've read the Lord of the Rings three times, not many books do I read more than once. The only other one that I've read as much, three times, is the historical novel Wind from the Carolinas, a 1964 novel by Robert Wilder.

Science fiction I would say is just as important, if not more so than fantasy. So many great authors such as Bradbury, Heinlein, Clarke, Herbert, Zelazny, Ellison to name just a few!
