One the things New York is up against is a really stupid mindset that many New Yorkers possess. It’s the notion that New York is indispensable and can get away with anything. I love New York but I’ve found this mindset hard to take. A lot of people and apparently most of NYC political class simply can’t believe that people and businesses will simply leave if you insist on pursuing policies that are contrary to their interests. Further, the Mamdani’s of this world have no real interest in or understanding of economics. They’re operating in an essentially Marxist framework where you have a zero sum economy and all you have to do is grab surplus value from the parasites to pay for whatever you want and that will work out fine!I’m particularly intrigued by the notion that you can increase housing supply and make it more affordable by pursuing policies that make investing in housing a bad investment.

"Socialists have historically prevented this free movement with walls and guns."

Interesting statement for sure. Does this mean the residents should assume they are in a war, and turnabout is fair play?

I'm thinking a wall between PA and NY might be a prudent plan.
