What a wonderful piece. I was especially gripped by your reference to anarchy, which I thought meant violence and chaos. It doesn't. The late David Graeber opened my eyes, as do you, everyday with your posts. Rock on. brother.

Libertarians must face up to the fact that the etymology of “anarchy” (derived from Greek term for without rulers, not rules) is irrelevant: in popular parlance the term has come to mean chaotic violence. Employing the term anarcho-capitalist publicly brands oneself as a domestic terrorist; hence, I prefer to use the more archaic but less confused term, “voluntaryist”. While Ghandi’s approach of non-violent civil disobedience is probably the most effective long-term strategy against the State, I reject pacifism when it comes to defense of my family against criminal predators.
