'Am I a Racist?', My Conversation With a Kamala Harris Supporter, and a Solution to the Organ Shortage
A few highlights from the week.
As I mentioned, I saw Matt Walsh’s new movie Am I a Racist? a couple of weeks ago. I liked it much more than the woke Veggie Tales guy, who apparently hated the film even though he didn’t watch it. (read my review here)
I’ve never met Walsh, but he retweeted my article. So that’s kind of cool.
Unrelated to Walsh and the DEI craze, I have a friend whose wife for years suffered from bad kidneys. The condition was very serious, and it was made worse by two problems: 1) getting a kidney transplant was extremely difficult; 2) when they were able to obtain a new kidney, her body was rejecting the organs.
Now, If I told you there was a simple solution to the human organ shortage problem, you might not believe me. If I told you that the solution didn’t involve simply lifting the prohibition on kidney sales—something many Americans oppose for (flawed) ethical reasons—you almost certainly wouldn’t believe me.
Nevertheless, Don Boudreaux offers a pair of solutions with virtually zero downside that would free up the market in transplantable kidneys and save thousands of lives every year. (read it here)
Finally, I appeared The Rational Egoist and talked about the 2024 election with Michael Liebowitz. Neither of us like the political choices available to us, but we’re not exactly in the same boat, either.
I don’t like Donald Trump, but if I’m being honest, I am even more afraid of a Kamala Harris presidency. Michael doesn’t like Harris, but is even more opposed to a Trump presidency.
Despite that, we find common ground because we see what should be the obvious takeaway from such a situation.
Bonus content: I was on The Bob Harden Show on Monday talking about Ford’s retreat from the EV market.
