About time you read it Jon 😀! You should read Dracula and Carmilla too and everything by Shirley Jackson. Also you’ve read Zamyatins WE - right! Yes also this fits in with the libertarian thing. Oh O I almost forgot Ursula Le Guins Lathe of Heaven as good a parable on the law of unintended consequences as I can think of of and of course P. K . Dick - Ubik, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. 🐑 etc . Best wishes.

By the way- the compositions of the early Frankenstein movies- reflecting German expressionism aka Cabinet of Dr Caligari and Nosferatu are brilliant.

Good take. Feminists often read Frankenstein and interpret it under that lens. I'm not sure that Mary intended it to be a screed against men or the state, but certainly the analogy is apt.
