Taylor Swift, Jimmy Lai, and Another Trump Assassination: Maintaining Sanity in an Increasingly Insane World
What in the world is going on?
I don’t normally write about pop stars, but last week I found myself writing about Taylor Swift for the second time in a year (here was the first time).
Their were rumors swirling that Swift had unfriended Brittany Mahomes over liking Trump tweets. The rumors weren’t true, but what troubled me was that many people, including journalists, were encouraging Swift to dump her friend. Writing at the Daily Economy, I explain why banishing good friends over politics is a really bad idea. (Read it here)
Over at the Washington Examiner, I share some important developments in the detainment of Jimmy Lai, the heroic freedom activist who is currently in a Chinese prison after the Chinese Communist Party decided to make an example out of him under the CCP’s authoritarian “national security law.” (Read it here)
Meanwhile, Ryan Routh, a 58-year-old man is in custody following a “golf club incident” involving Donald Trump. (That’s how NBC News chose to describe a reported assassination attempt on the former president!)
What in the world is going on? I talked with my friend Austin Peterson this morning on his Wake Up America program to try to make sense of what’s happening in our increasingly crazy world. (1:09 mark)
Thanks Jon for the article on the "People's Democratic Dictatorship" (CCP) and its persecution to the point of torture of political dissidents like Lai. I am ready to post on my Substack on the horrible tyranny of the CCP under Xi supported by Western "Useful Idiots" who believe the CCP and Putin are world Saviors.

I like the Jefferson quote about friends who have different beliefs. It's unfortunate there's such intolerance.
